NGC 281 est une région H-alpha située à environ 10 000 années-lumière de la Terre dans la constellation de Cassiopée. D'un diamètre d'environ 100 années-lumière, elle fait partie du bras de Persée. Elle inclut ou est proche de l'amas ouvert IC 1590. Elle est visible dans un télescope amateur dans les zones où le ciel nocturne est suffisamment sombre. Elle est officieusement appelée nébuleuse Pacman à cause de sa ressemblance au héros du jeu d'arcade.
NGC 281 is a H-alpha area located at about 10 000 light-years from Earth in the constellation of Cassiopeia. With a diameter of about 100 light years, it is part of the Perseus arm. It includes or is near the open cluster IC 1590. It is visible in an amateur telescope in the areas where the night sky is dark enough. It is unofficially called Pacman Nebula because of its resemblance to the hero of the arcade game.
